Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Today is my lucky day, because I found this wonderful gem - quite unexpectedly. Shortly before that - quite unexpectedly - I found the fan profile of Alan Benjamin... yes, THE Alan Benjamin, guitar player and one of the main songwriters of "Advent" - one of my favorite prog bands (check them out, by all means!). And this item is from his collection. Listening to art/prog/symphonic rock for almost 50 years now, I'm rarely surprised by contemporary prog releases, because they usally lack exactly the ingredient they carry in their name: PROGRESS! "onevoice" is different - very different. Each track on this album (as well as the other ones done by Dan Costello) is a pleasant surprise. Good to see that there's still a lot of unexplored terrain in rock music! Favorite track: Hush of Lack.

Aether 06:36
"Aether" by onevoice The water gets much deeper here Feel it rise Into the silent liquid you melt Open the door and step outside Your body motionless behind This world a blue and churning sky Seeing, we surrender our eyesight We surrender our hearing Take us beyond our senses Out there, in the air that the gods breathe Will we find out what they mean All of this mystic chanting It might seem weird from the outside If you're not tasting the view But fear and misunderstanding Keeps you locked away in you The trees of glass and rubber walls Your skin is passing through them all But don't get lost in conscious dreaming Take with you from this distant realm A wider concept of yourself You're much more than the car you're driving Seeing, we surrender our eyesight We surrender our hearing Take us beyond our senses Out there, in the air that the gods breathe Will we find out what they mean All of this mystic chanting It might seem weird from the outside If you're not tasting the view But fear and misunderstanding Keeps you locked away in you Molding the clay of The Universe We aren't the ones who have made this first Learn what we can from the sea and sky We'll see the truth once we close our eyes Living in two worlds at the same time It amazes me how wide We all are on the inside It might seem weird from the outside If you're not tasting the view But fear and misunderstanding Keeps you locked away in you

October Snow 04:56
"October Snow" by onevoice The winter is mocking me and its all I see Her face down in crimson snow You took her away from me when she was a child Her tear stained eyes, her clear blue skies Everything's covered now in your cold, white lie Her red hair, her falling leaves How dare you fall so soon? October snow won't you let me go Trapped deep inside that night's blueish glow Jump on my back, I'll carry you somewhere All of my life shines through your smile All of those years make old pictures useless Barge in my room just like you used to, I miss you So cold... The winter is here again with its cold embrace No reason to leave my bed The ice is inside of me and it cuts like glass The pain deep inside my veins Remembering the pain is easy this time of year The Christmas lights already glow How dare you glow so soon? October snow Let me go Trapped deep inside Blueish glow Stay up real late, I'll help with your homework All of my life shines through your smile All of those years make old pictures useless Barge in my room just like you used to, I love you So cold...

"People Watching" by onevoice Pour in a capsule Just how I feel now In case I start to forget I watch them walking With friends and family I've got a fork and a tray Slow down my offbeat heart I swam out way too far Trying free samples Does not distract me And no one tells me to stop I hear them talking Outside this plastic Their words are glued to my back Slow down my offbeat heart I swam out way too far I swam out way too far...

Hibernation 07:20
"Hibernation" by onevoice Wait far too long To get out of bed Sit on the edge and just stare for a while Pour on your clothes Swallow your pills Rub both your eyes as you run out the door Give up your voice Do what you're told Its all the same, you're not yours anymore Stagnation I can't wake up Hibernation in my blood Wait far too long To get out of bed Watching the days as they turn into one Call up your ex Hate no one more They're all the same as they run out the door Inhale your food On your fifteen Come back inside and feel lower than dirt Stagnation I can't wake up Hibernation in my blood Everyday is the same Treating life like a game Swallowed whole by my bed Living life in my head Just when you think you're on your own Look closer now, its inside you again...

Mind Palace 06:08
"Mind Palace" by onevoice Here in my igloo made of stone on the hillside I come to rest from time to time Every night I come here to run from the cityscape Such a view from the highest tree Run through waves that rejoice and join me to form a chord Directly clinging to my soul You know you hold the pen... Life can get kind of scary sometimes Skies grow dark, friends get farther away All I need is an inner refuge Call it ignorance, I'll call it bliss Koko wa anata no basho, eien ni (this is your place forever) Mousou no hana ga saite iru yo (the flowers of delusion are blooming) You know you hold the pen... Life can get kind of scary sometimes Skies grow dark, friends get farther away All I need is an inner refuge Call it ignorance, I'll call it bliss And at night when the sun's awake I am watching the waves Wondering just where my life has gone And why I've run away Flying low through the valleys wide In the tall grass I lay Wishing real life could be as sweet As it is in this place

For Her 04:50
"For Her" by onevoice It was early morning You were driving me to School and then you noticed Glistening tears in my eyes You pulled into the nearest empty lot Held my hand as i sat and cried a while I'm sure you don't at all remember that day But I do, and always will Always You were by me always You were standing by me always Rooting for me always It'll take a couple lifetimes Just for me to show you How much all that really saved me And how much I love you This is for her For her...

A Seedling 05:20
"A Seedling" by onevoice I'll carry you back home with me Don't worry, you'll be fine Your poetry, so surreal I know But frail are your wings Molding the clay of The Universe Bring down to Earth what we so deserve Grateful are we for the gift You give Power to create in the world we live Without our art we are alone... Your challenge, a shell that I must break No room for comfort here A seedling is every small idea Your caring can make it grow Molding the clay of The Universe Bring down to Earth what we so deserve Grateful are we for the gift You give Power to create in the world we live Without our art we are alone...

Hush of Lack 05:29
"Hush of Lack" by onevoice Comfortable is my life Normal, safe and plain Not a lot happens here Every day's the same But every night I'm alone with my angry mind Wondering how much worse This gets over time Why do we do this to ourselves? Treat our hearts like unread words in a book on a shelf Why do we do this to ourselves? Celebrate the fact that everything you own will turn to dust It's just a matter of time Celebrate the fact that everything you know ain't worth that much We're so much more than our minds Celebrate the fact that all you need is love, its all we have Hear the sound before the sound... I feel You in the waves I feel You in the grass at night I feel You on my back You cannot by what You are I feel You everyday... Every night I'm alone with my angry mind And I can say it does get worse, gets much worse over time Don't believe that you are all that you may have Why do we do this to ourselves? Treat our hearts like unread words in a book on a shelf Why do we do this to ourselves? Celebrate the fact that everything you own will turn to dust It's just a matter of time Celebrate the fact that everything you know ain't worth that much We're so much more than our minds Celebrate the fact that all you need is love, its all we have

Any Happier 04:36
"Any Happier" by onevoice They're all gone Left me with a house so empty And I couldn't be happier Or so I'd thought But the buzz wore off so quickly Am I really any happier? No one's left To turn the heat up, drink my last beer Now it's all how it should've been Or so I'd thought But the loneliness is creeping Am I really any happier? I'm so lonely but I'm not changing I'm so lonely but I can't change I'm so lonely but I'm not changing I'm so lonely but I can't change To be alone With my wife was all I wanted Such a shame that she had to go The coverings I ripped them off of all the couches Won't you please come and sit with me? Nine to five Coming home was all I wanted Now the walls turn and scream at me The photographs Potential lives that they all wanted Now they're gone and so are we I'm so lonely but I'm not changing I'm so lonely but I can't change I'm so lonely but I'm not changing I'm so lonely but I won't change I'm so lonely but I'm not changing I'm so lonely but I won't change I'm so lonely but I'm not changing I'm so lonely but I can't change

Graduation 01:16
"Graduation" by onevoice Keep your degree I just wanna be Happy inside Is it too much to ask How can we learn Without anyone around To teach us all How to be wiser and how to be kind How to escape from our minds The light pears in through the shades now And silent I am awake God, have I come any closer When will I graduate
